1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

The ministry of the Prayer Team is of utmost importance. Prayer Team Members are voices of love, compassion and hope of the Lord Jesus Christ. As a prayer member, they are serving in the role of an intercessor. An intercessor is a believer who prays on behalf of another person(s). Therefore, Intercessory Prayer is for others.

In the New Testament, Christ is pictured as the model intercessor. Because of Christ, all Christian prayer becomes intercession since it is offered to God through and by Christ (Romans 8:34). As New Testament believers, we are no longer required to sacrifice animals as in Old Testament times.

The Word of God declares that as believers, we are a holy and royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:5, 9). In our role as a Prayer Member, we follow the Old Testament priestly function and the New Testament pattern of Jesus – standing before God on behalf of man.
