What is the Meaning of Salvation?
Salvation is simply the realization of one’s sin and accepting Jesus Christ as one’s Lord and Saviour for forgiveness through His blood, burial, and resurrection. Receiving salvation means becoming a part of God’s Kingdom on earth and receiving the free gift of eternal life.
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” (Ephesians 1:7)
Why Am I a Sinner?
The Word of God declares in Romans 3:23, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Psalms 51:5 says, “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in my sin my mother conceived me.” Without Jesus Christ we are all sinners condemned to eternal death, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). Through Adam we are all sinners, but through Jesus Christ we receive salvation and liberty from sin and death. (refers to 1 Corinthians 15:21-22)
Why Jesus Christ?
John 3:16 tells us that, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Jesus is the only One whom God has appointed, that through Him humankind might receive salvation. God the Father (Luke 3:22), the Apostle Paul (1 Timothy 2:5), and Jesus Himself (John 14:6) agree that salvation comes through Jesus alone.
Jesus is the only one worthy enough to take away the sins of the world. (refers to John 1:29, Hebrews 9:11-15)
What Must I Do to Be Saved?
You are not the only one to ask this question! A Philippian jailer asked the Apostle Paul the same question. The Apostle Paul’s answer was simple, “…believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household,” (Acts 16:29-31).
Romans 10:9-10 declares, “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
It sounds unbelievable, but it is true! The best thing in life really is free! All the wealth and riches in the world cannot be compared to your precious life (Mark 8:36-37).
All you have to do is:
- Recognize and admit that you are a sinner. (Romans 3:23; Psalms 51:5)
- Repent. (Matthew 4:17; 1 John 1:9)
- Confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. (Romans 10:9-10)
- Be Baptized – Both by Water & the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:18-20; Matthew 3:11; Ephesians 1:13-14; John 3:5-6)
- Live an obedient life to the Word of God. (John 15:10; 1 John 5:3)
Now you are a part of the Kingdom of God and the Church.
You are commissioned to:
- Proclaim the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness and into His marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9)
- Build yourself up unto maturity in the Lord. (Ephesians 4:7-16)
- Be part of the Great Commission of the Universal Church through the local body. (Matthew 28:18-20)
As a believer you must fully engulf yourself in the Word of God, Prayer, Worship (both personally and corporately), and Fellowshipping with other believers.
If you want to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, please pray this prayer aloud…[blockquote cite=””]Father, I call on You today. I recognize that I am a sinner in need of salvation through Your Son Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God and the Saviour of the world. I repent of all my sins. I turn away from the world and from sin. I confess You as my Lord and Saviour. Wash and cleanse me in Your blood. I receive the eternal hope that comes through Your blood, burial, and resurrection. Father, write my name in Your Book of Life. I also receive Your Holy Spirit as a guarantee of my salvation; and all the benefits that are due to Your children. Thank you Lord that I am saved. I pray this prayer in the name of Your only begotten Son. Amen.[/blockquote]
